To Be a Conscious Leader - Drop Status Symbols

A bureaucrat is more concerned with perks than contributing. Rather than becoming a valuable member of the organization they are a liability. Their focus is on status to the exclusion of all else. Their attitude is, “I’m great and you are not.” They drain enthusiasm and energy.

A conscious leader does not care about status symbols in the least. They are all about the people and the higher purpose of the organization. An example might be a CEO of a billion dollar company who sits in a cubical right in the middle of a busy call center at Zappos (Tony Hsieh).

How important are status symbols to you? Does your organization keep the executive staff sequestered-off in a separate (and locked) floor of the building? Who sits in the corner office?
