The Importance of the Sunset and the Stars

Ralph Waldo Emerson observed that, “If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile.”

We could add to this all the other envoys of beauty we miss every single day: The sunsets, the clouds, the mountains and even the eyes of those we pass along the path. We miss all this beauty to our own peril. It is as if we see but cannot see.

We are all billionaires living in poverty. Stuck inside the house staring at a screen. Lost in a world (of recycled thoughts) that has nothing to do with the true wealth awaiting just outside the door.

Preparing for Opportunity

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.
~ Milton Berle

A window of opportunity opens when a set of circumstances and personal preparedness come together (at the same time). When this happens, there is a potential for real success. Do the work now to be prepared for when the opportunity knocks. Start building the doors and windows today.

Strengths v. Weaknesses

Only those who constantly retool themselves stand a chance of staying employed in the years ahead.
~ Tom Peters
We can spend a lifetime trying to fix weaknesses only to end up unfulfilled and under serving our own best interests. The alternative is to find out what we are really good at—our strengths—and begin focusing all our efforts there. Why? Because the data suggests that when we use our strengths every day we are happier, more successful and end up contributing in a more significant way. Checkout this week’s class on How to Create Your Dream Job Now ™ and join us for the coaching call on Thursday. We are focusing on discovering your strengths this week!

Conscious Leaders Care about Loving Kindness

What? Loving kindness? You may be asking why write about that. Well, our friend and tribe member Bill Cumming says that “Loving-kindness is what is required in every situation.”

Every situation is pretty broad. That would include work life, family life, financial life, personal life, etc. Basically all situations. That’s a pretty sweeping statement to be sure. And here is the rub: “You cannot give unconditional love unless you have experienced it.”

Conscious Leaders Care about Gratitude

One of my best friends passed away in 2012 from a massive stroke. He was a great man. He was successful beyond imagination from the stand point of wealth, power and influence. Yet, deep down, he felt something was missing. He felt an existential lack.

Want Love v. Be Love

Many, many people want love.
They spend their whole life wanting it.

No one ever told them that they can generate love themselves.

There is no need to wait.

Start loving right now.

Start blessing everyone you see. Especially those who (for mysterious reasons) rub you the wrong way.

Bless all, in every moment, on every occasion.

Silently wish them the best things in life, with no reservations, from the bottom of your heart.

There you go. Keep doing it until it becomes your default way of being.

You can do this.
And you will never have another regret for the rest of your life.
